A huge brawl erupted during the third inning of Sacramento State's home opener against UC Riverside on Friday.
UC Riverside shortstop Eddie Young, who was caught in a rundown between second and third base by Sacramento State second baseman Andrew Ayers, appeared to hold on to Ayers' glove after the tag. Ayers pushed him off, but was promptly greeted by a right hook to the face, a punch so hard his glasses were knocked off.
Chaos ensued, with both benches clearing. According to the Sacramento Bee, three players - Young, Ayers and UC Riverside catcher Drake Zarate — were ejected and will serve four-game suspensions.
