ARLINGTON, Texas – Texas third baseman Adrian Beltre wasn't in the lineup Sunday but the Rangers didn't seem to mind.

Beltre, who left Saturday's game in the 10th inning with a hamstring injury, is out with a mild left hamstring strain. An MRI revealed the news, which came as a relief to the Rangers.

There's a chance that Beltre – who was the team's player of the month for May – could return for the series against Boston.

"I was concerned at first but once I got the news I'm not," Texas manager Ron Washington said. "A couple of days he should be back in there. Tuesday is realistic but when we get to Tuesday we'll see. The thing is he'll be back in there soon."

Washington said the team would be careful with Beltre for next weekend's series in Toronto because of the turf at the Rogers Centre. Beltre missed more than a month of the 2011 season with a left hamstring strain.

Beltre was replaced in the lineup at third by Jeff Baker.

The Texas lineup Sunday initially didn't include shortstop Elvis Andrus in it either. Washington planned to give Andrus a day off but Andrus talked his way back into the lineup.

Andrus has been bothered by a sore back for about a week but wanted to play.

"I felt really well last night," Andrus said. "Three of my five at-bats I hit the ball well just right at guys. I feel my offense is about to wake up again. Especially right now with a bunch of guys hurt, the best situation for me to be is playing, being out there to try and help the guys win.
