BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) A two-time Olympic medal-winning weightlifter from Belarus has had his provisional doping suspension lifted in line with new guidelines on meldonium cases.

Andrei Rybakov, who won silver in the 85-kilogram class at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics, recently tested positive for meldonium, which was banned from Jan. 1.

The International Weightlifting Federation says in a statement Thursday that it lifted Rybakov's provisional suspension ''in line with the applicable rules of the recently published WADA notice on meldonium.''

The case remains opens but he is eligible to compete in the meantime.

The announcement came a day after the World Anti-Doping Agency published new guidance for dealing with meldonium cases, allowing for provisional suspensions to be lifted if it is determined athletes did not use the drug after Jan. 1.
