Roddy Beaubois may be preaching caution about making his season debut on Wednesday but on Monday Mavs coach Rick Carlise gave the greatest indication yet that Beaubois likely will play against the Kings.
"Look, we're all excited, but we have another two days before we get to the altar with this," said to The Dallas Morning News' Eddie Sefko after Beaubois' first full practice of the year. "I'm encouraged. I'm not sure of the timetable. I'm not sure if it's pre-All-Star break or after the All-Star break.
But he had a good day today and if he has another good day tomorrow, it's conceivable he could play."
Beaubois, for his part, said the session went well but that he's hesitant to get ahead of himself.
"It went well and I just need to keep going," he said. The first (practice) was pretty good. So far, so good. I pushed myself and it went well. I don't know (about Wednesday). It's going to be day by day."
Of course, 'day by day' is a much less daunting term than it appears. With just Tuesday's practice and Wednesday's shootaround standing between Beaubois and the game against Sacramento, it would be hard to imagine Beaubois not hitting the court for the first time this season.
