Bearcats add transfer linebacker

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati football team added transfer linebacker Eric Wilson (Redford, Mich./Thurston/Northwestern) to the roster to start its 2013 training camp, head coach Tommy Tuberville announced Monday. “We are happy and excited Eric has decided to join us,” Tuberville said. “He’s a good fundamental player that comes from a good family and will fit in well with our team. He also gives us some depth, especially in practice at a position we are still a little thin at. We are looking forward to getting him on the field.” Wilson will sit out the 2013 season according to NCAA transfer regulations and have three years of eligibility remaining starting in the fall of 2014. He is expected to be on the field Monday afternoon when the Bearcats kick off preparations for the 2013 season.
The Bearcats open training camp Monday with the season opener against Purdue set for Saturday, Aug. 31 at noon inside Nippert Stadium. UC will practice on campus through Thursday before moving to its preseason home at the Higher Ground Conference and Retreat Center in West Harrison, Ind. The team will practice at Higher Ground for just over two weeks, returning to campus on Friday, Aug. 23.
