Bathe trades in skates for sneakers

Shoveling snow, throwing out
t-shirts, taking pictures and signing calendars sounds like the gist of being
an LA Kings Ice Crew member.

I'd like to add "avid contributors to local
charities" to that list!

This past weekend, a good portion of the Ice Crew
bared the pouring rain to help support Daryl Evans as he hosted a 5k run
benefiting the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign! Not only
did it feel great to support the cause itself, it was extra special to be there
for Daryl as he's been there countless times for us.

His roots with the Ice Crew
stem back to our inaugural season where he started morning skate sessions to
strengthen our skills. Not a game goes by without him visiting our locker room
for some well wishes and good conversation. He's been a mentor to each one of
us on the crew, and this weekend we repaid some of that compassion and support
we've seen from him throughout the years.

Some of us chose to run as
others donned our team uniforms and helped participants throughout the morning.
I chose to run and had a blast! I couldn't think of a better way to spend my
Saturday morning. Even the wind and rain couldn't get my spirits down.

Check
out my video to see my experience of the event first hand. Watch me train, run
and complete my first ever 5k! Go Kings!
