Ball dropped by Hamilton vs. A's sells for more than $1,200

Let's hope for the sanity of Texas Rangers fans, whoever bought the infamous Josh Hamilton baseball burned it.
The Oakland Athletics auctioned off the ball Hamilton dropped in the season finale last season in Oakland. The ball went for $1,280 according to Comcast Sports Net's Casey Pratt. Part of the proceeds went to charity.
For those who need a reminder, Hamilton dropped a fly ball in a 5-5 tie in Oakland in a game that would determine the winner of the American League West.
Texas led 5-1 going into the bottom of the fourth before the Athletics tied the game at 5. Yoenis Cespedes then hit a fly ball that Hamilton should have caught. He didn't and two runs scored. Oakland went on to win 12-5.
There's no word if the St. Louis Cardinals want to add to the open wound of Texas fans by auctioning off the Game 6 ball from the 2011 World Series that Nelson Cruz couldn't catch.
