Badgers LB Biegel to miss multiple games after foot surgery

Wisconsin Badgers linebacker Vince Biegel is expected to miss several games -- including this week's matchup against Big Ten powerhouse Michigan -- after having surgery on his right foot Thursday.
"Vince has such a passion for football and loves playing the game. This team is very important to him and he is very important to our team," head coach Paul Chryst said in a statement Friday. "What you appreciate is that you know he will do everything in his power to get back on the field as soon as possible."
Biegel has registered nine tackles, two tackles for loss and one sack so far this season.
He ranks eighth on the Badgers' all-time list with 18.5 career sacks, while his 35.5 tackles for loss rank 13th.
A semifinalist for the Campbell Trophy and one of two season-long captains for the Badgers, Biegel was named to several preseason watch lists and is expected to contend for several end-of-season defensive awards, including the Bednarik Award, Butkus Award and Nagurski Trophy.
