Badgers hockey posts first win of season

Wisconsin's men's hockey squad put its first notch in the win column on Saturday night, as it outlasted Ferris State by a 5-3 margin at the Kohl Center.
Wisconsin, now 1-8-1 on the season, was led on Saturday by Grant Besse's two goals.
The Badgers' most important tally of the night, however, came from Jack Dougherty, who lit the lamp at 5:29 of the third period to break a 3-all deadlock.That was Dougherty's first career goal; Badgers teammate and fellow freshman Corbin McGuire also tallied his first career goal on the night.
The hosts also got 30 saves from netminder Joel Rumpel, who posted his 50th career victory.
Ferris State (7-7-1) was paced by Simon Denis' two assists.
Wisconsin hosts Penn State next weekend in a two-game, Big Ten series.
