Badgers hockey holds off Minnesota-Duluth

The No. 14 Wisconsin men's hockey squad fended off Minnesota-Duluth, 3-1, Friday night, in Game 1 of a WCHA first-round playoff series.
Wisconsin, now 18-12-7 overall, got a goal and two assists from Mark Zengerle in the win. Wisconsin won the special teams battle Friday, going 1-for-3 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
Meanwhile, Badgers netminder Joel Rumpel recorded 26 saves to aid the Wisconsin cause. Minnesota-Duluth is now 14-18-5 on the year.
Game 2 of the best-of-three series is Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Kohl Center.
