Badgers hockey endures 4-2 defeat to Penn State

Wisconsin's rough hockey season continued on Saturday night, as the Badgers were dealt a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Penn State.
Three second-period goals from Penn State essentially did Wisconsin in on this night.
Penn State produced its three-goal unanswered run following a goal from Wisconsin's Kevin Schulze at 2:32 of the second stanza.
The Badgers (1-10-1 overall, 0-2-0 Big Ten) got a goal from Morgan Zulinick at 14:46 of the final period to close to within 4-2, but the damage was done at that point.
Despite the loss, Wisconsin got a respectable effort from netminder Joel Rumpel, who recorded 29 saves. Penn State, now 9-4-2 overall and 3-1-0 in league play, was led by goalie Matthew Skoff's 23 stops.
Wisconsin returns to action next Friday, when it hosts the U.S. Under-18 team in an exhibition.
