Badgers hockey allows nine goals in loss to Minnesota

Wisconsin allowed four first-period goals, including one just 12 seconds into the game, as it lost 9-2 to Minnesota Saturday at the Kohl Center.
Goalie Matt Jurusik allowed two goals in the first 4:05 for the Badgers (4-12-6-0, 1-6-2-0 Big Ten), and Minnesota (13-10-0-0, 8-2-0-0 Big Ten) added four third-period goals to sweep the series.
The Badgers remain winless in regulation in 2016.
Jurusik allowed seven goals on 27 shots, and Aidan Cavallini and Eddie Wittchow each took five-minute major penalties for the Badgers.
Cameron Hughe and Grant Besse scored second-period goals for Wisconsin, during which the team outshot the Gophers 15-5. But Minnesota scored three goals in the first nine minutes of the third period to secure the victory.
Michael Brodzinski led Minnesota with three goals, and Leon Bristedt added a goal and two assists. The Gophers have won six straight games and lead the Big Ten halfway through their regular-season conference schedule.
The Badgers will host the Alaska Nanooks next weekend.
