Badgers fight to the finish in OT win over Michigan State
The Wisconsin Badgers men's hockey team followed Friday's 6-3 win over Michigan State with a 4-3 overtime win Saturday night at Munn Ice Arena in East Lansing, Mich. It's Wisconsin's first sweep in East Lansing since Big Ten play began in 2013-14.
Shortly after a Michigan State goal was overturned in the first, Luke Kunin gave the Badgers a 1-0 lead on a shorthanded goal on a breakaway. Wisconsin's lead was short-lived, as the Spartans scored the tying goal and a little brawl ensued.
Michigan State (5-17-2, 1-8-1-0 Big Ten) and Wisconsin (15-8-1, 8-2-0-0 Big Ten) exchanged leads throughout, with Trent Frederic and Cameron Hughes lighting the lamp for Wisconsin.
Jake Linhart scored the winning goal in overtime.
Matt Jurusik made 28 saves for his eighth win of the year and fourth straight since returning from injury at the beginning of January.
Next up, Wisconsin hosts Penn State for a Friday-Saturday series Feb. 10-11 on 'Scout Weekend', when area boys and girls scouts are invited to spend the weekend at the Kohl Center.
