Awards host Jay Mohr roasts Danica Patrick and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

Hosting the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards is no easy task. Many have tried, some have excelled, others not so much.
Actor and comedian Jay Mohr was back for his second stint as host of Friday night's event in Las Vegas, Nev., and Mohr had many in the room and those watching on FOX Sports in stitches most of the night. However, two in the crowd not laughing at Mohr's jokes and jabs were NASCAR lovebirds Danica Patrick and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
In his opening monologue, Mohr took aim at Patrick, joking she was not used to being so close to the front. The joke drew an immediate reaction from the crowd in attendance, while Patrick and Stenhouse did not seem to find the humor in the situation.
As it typically does, the NASCAR Twittersphere exploded with reaction, most of which suggested the couple find their sense of humor.
I don't think Jay's going to be going after @DanicaPatrick again anytime soon. Great retort Danica! #ChampionsWeek #NASCAR

It's quite clear that Danica cannot take a joke. If you can't sit there & laugh at yourself, then you don't have a fun personality. #NASCAR”

I tried to warn the boy, @jaymohr37, don't mess with the #Nascar family!

After claiming he was being taken to task by fans on Twitter, Mohr apologized for his joke and said he is actually a big fan of Patrick and all she has done for women in sports.
Danica did not fire back on Twitter, instead simply saying it was a great night for both her and Ricky.
I have the most handsome man, the banquet was funny, my fans rock, and we both won money tonight! Life is good! pic.twitter.com/wciRzbTXCP

Mohr had fun with the entire thing, adding the hashtag #teamdanica at the end of this tweet.
Thank you @NASCAR for an incredible night! I am HONORED to be your host. #teamdanica

The NASCAR power couple was not Mohr's only target during the opening monologue, however. A fan of the sport, Mohr ribbed Kevin Harvick for his feud with Ty Dillon, called out Clint Bowyer for his "bad acting" at Richmond, and much more.
