MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) Australia captain Steve Smith won the toss and elected to bat first in the third and final one-day international against New Zealand on Friday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The series has already been clinched by Australia after a 68-run victory in Sydney last Sunday and a 116-run win Tuesday in Canberra.

''The wicket looks good, and it's pretty fresh out there, so I think it'll be a bit colder tonight,'' Smith said.

Australia was unchanged and has batted first in all three matches.

New Zealand made two changes. James Neesham missed out after being struck on the arm in Canberra and was replaced by Henry Nicholls, while Lockie Ferguson replaced Matt Henry.
