FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) -- Thomas Eshelman pitched eight dominant innings and Cal State Fullerton beat Arizona State 6-1 on Sunday night to win the NCAA tournament's Fullerton Regional.

The Titans (51-8) will host UCLA in their first super regional appearance since 2010, when they also faced UCLA.

Eshelman (12-2) allowed six hits and one run, didn't walk anyone and struck out seven. He was Fullerton's second freshman right-hander to shut down the Sun Devils (37-22-1) in as many nights after Justin Garza threw 8 1/3 shutout innings in the Titans' 1-0 win over ASU on Saturday.

Fullerton went 3-0 in the regional and allowed only two runs.

The Titans scored five times in the first two innings against ASU left-hander Adam McCreery (2-4), who struggled with his control. McCreery walked six of the 12 batters he faced and hit another and was pulled after only 1 1/3 innings.

The Sun Devils were playing in their third game in the past 24 hours. Their first matchup against Fullerton the night before did not end until nearly 1 a.m., and they played an elimination game against Columbia at 4 p.m. before taking on the Titans at 8 p.m.

Right-hander Josh McAlister, who tossed one scoreless frame in the eighth inning of the Devils' win over Columbia earlier in the day, gave up just three hits and did not allow a run in 5 1/3 innings in relief of McCreery.

"I'm really proud of this young man" ASU coach Tim Esmay said. ""We were pretty stretched with our bullpen, and to come in and do what he did was incredible."

Fullerton scored three times in the first on only one hit, a two-run single by Michael Lorenzen.  McAlister came on in the second after Fullerton loaded the bases on a hit batter and two walks. The Titans scored twice on an RBI single and a sacrifice bunt before McAlister coerced a flyout to end the frame.

ASU scored its only run in the bottom of the fourth when Trever Allen singled home catcher Max Rossiter, who tripled to center fielder.

"We didn't swing the bats we swung the bats all year," Esmay said, "bit this time of year you're facing very good pitching."

Fullerton added one run in the eighth off right-hander Ryan Burr, who allowed two hits over the final 2 1/3 innings.
