Arizona State running back Deantre Lewis was shot in the buttocks Saturday during a random shooting in his California hometown.
An ASU spokesman told the The Arizona Republic that Lewis, who was the team's second-leading rusher in 2010, was injured while visiting family in Norco, Calif., but he cited privacy laws in declining to provide more details.
Lewis' teammates posted on Facebook that the running back was shot in the buttocks. According to the posts, Lewis' injuries are not considered serious and he is recovering in a local hospital.
In 2010, the true freshman recorded 539 rushing yards and four touchdowns and had 23 receptions for 370 yards and two TDs.
