ASU volleyball suffers first losses

LAWRENCE, Kan. – After starting the season 6-0, Arizona State volleyball suffered its first two losses of the season Friday at the Jayhawk Invitational, falling 3-2 to unbeaten Wyoming and 3-1 to Kansas (8-1).

Game scores against Wyoming were 23-25, 25-18, 25-18, 24-26, 11-15. Freshman Macey Gardner had 24 kills and 18 digs, her fourth double-double of the year, for the Sun Devils (6-2), and Allison Palmer had her third double-double with 58 assists and 10 diges. Erica Wilson (17) and Nora Tuioti-Mariner (15) also had double-digit kills, while Stephanie Preach led the way with 20 digs.

In the night match, ASU won the first game 25-20 but dropped the next three, 19-25, 24-26 and 23-25. Wilson and Gardner had 19 kills apiece for ASU, which had a .196 hitting percentage compared with .259 for Kansas.
