CORVALLIS, Ore. -- The Arizona State baseball team notched a series win over fourth-ranked Oregon State with a 7-3 victory on Sunday at Goss Stadium.

It's the first series win for the Sun Devils (12-10, 3-3) over Oregon State in Corvallis since 2007 and the third road series win over a top-five team in school history, including the second under head coach Tim Esmay.

Freshman catcher Brian Serven scored the eventual game-winning run in the top of the eighth inning, starting right-hander Darin Gillies allowed just two runs in five innings, and sophomores Dalton DiNatale and RJ Ybarra combined for five RBI.

Sophomore right-hander Jordan Aboites (2-1) earned the win after he conceded just one hit and an unearned run, and struck out a pair, in two innings. Sophomore right-hander Ryan Burr (5) struck out the final batter of the game looking to record his fifth save of the season and the 16th of his career, eighth most in school history. He took the mound in the eighth inning and allowed just two baserunners on a single and a walk across two scoreless innings.

Gillies held the Beavers scoreless for the first five innings of the game before he issued a leadoff single and a walk to the first two batters in the bottom of the sixth and was chased from the mound. Both runners eventually scored in the inning and Gillies took a no-decision after he allowed a pair of earned runs on four hits and three walks. He had not allowed an earned run in 12 1/3 consecutive innings dating back to his March 9 start against Tennessee.

Ybarra went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored, DiNatale drove in three runs, and junior first baseman Nate Causey notched a pair of hits and scored two runs to pace the Sun Devils at the plate.

Gillies worked himself out of a jam in the bottom of the second after he issued a walk and a single to the first two batters he faced. He forced a foul pop-up to the catcher followed by consecutive flyouts to end the inning and strand a pair of Beavers.

The Devils notched three runs on three hits, including a two-out, two-run single by DiNatale, to jump out to a 3-0 advantage in the top of the sixth inning. Redshirt junior right fielder Trever Allen led off the frame with a walk, Causey followed with a single to put runners at the corners with no outs and Ybarra drove in the first run of the game with an RBI single through the left side. OSU intentionally walked junior second baseman Drew Stankiewicz to load the bases with two outs and DiNatale tacked on two more with a single through the right side on the first pitch he saw.

Oregon State countered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at three. Aboites inherited two runners with no outs in the frame and allowed an RBI single to the first batter he faced for the Beavers' (19-5, 4-2) first run of the game. A wild pitch moved the runners over and a fielding error by Stankiewicz in the next at-bat brought home the final two runs of the inning.

Serven led off the eighth with a double, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Stankiewicz and scored on a fielder's choice by DiNatale to put the Devils ahead, 4-3.

The Devils tacked on three runs in the top of the ninth to extend their lead, 7-3. Sophomore center fielder Johnny Sewald and Allen began the inning with a double and a single, respectively, and Causey walked to load the bases with no outs before a wild pitch and two sacrifice flies plated three runs.

Oregon State starting left-hander Jace Fry (4-1) took his first loss of the season after he surrendered four runs on nine hits and two walks in 7 1/3 innings.
