A's rookie Canha channels 'Bull Durham' cliches in postgame interview

Oakland Athletics rookie first baseman Mark Canha made his MLB debut Wednesday night with a stellar 3 for 5 performance and four RBI. He also came to the big show prepared with lines memorized from "Bull Durham" to aid him with interviews.

Asked about how his big night earned him a start in Thursday's game (video above), Canha responds, "I'm just trying to help the ball club and give it my best shot, and the good Lord willing, things will work out."

Canha can't help but smirk and then gets called out by another reporter for dropping the line. This is a perfect time to queue up the great "cliches" scene from the movie:

You nitpickers may note that Canha's line wasn't exact. If you mention that in the comments, you will be frowned upon.

The full Canha interview is pretty cool and worth watching if you've got a couple minutes (it's cut down to the "Bull Durham" bit above); he offers some non-canned insights into his debut, discusses the feeling of seeing his name on the scoreboard, describes the nerves and more.
