Arizona women rally in second half but fall to UAB

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Arizona women’s basketball team rallied from a 15-point deficit in the second half, but fell to UAB 63-53 in Birmingham, Ala., Thursday night.

“We made a surge late, but made mistakes in the last minutes,” Arizona head coach Niya Butts said. “We started to make some plays defensively, giving them a tough time, but we didn’t always capitalize offensively.as a team.”

Senior Erica Barnes led the Wildcats with 11 points and seven rebounds.

Seniors Kama Griffitts and Carissa Crutchfield scored nine and eight points, while freshman LaBrittney Jones grabbed seven rebounds.

Seven players scored at least six points for Arizona.

Chelsee Black and Karisma Chapman led the Blazers with 15 and 12 points, respectively.
