Arizona women defeat Southern for 3rd win in a row

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Junior Keyahndra Cannon scored a season-high 12 points as as Arizona's women's basketball team defeated Southern, 56-45, on Thursday night for its third win in a row.
Cannon also had five rebounds and four assists for Arizona (5-3), sophomore LaBrittney Jones scored 11 points, and senior guard Candice Warthen contributed nine points, eight rebounds and four assists.
Kendra Coleman led Southern (1-6) with 14 points.
Arizona outrebounded Southern, 47-31, and limited the Jaguars to 31 percent shooting.
"I didn't like the way our team played tonight, but we always want to give credit to the opposing team. They came in and played a tough ball game," Arizona coach Niya Butts said. "Although we reached some of our goals defensively, offensively we turned the ball over way too many times. ... We turned it over 21 times. That's not good."
