Arizona women blow out by No. 8 Oregon State

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- For the second time this season, the Wildcats hung right with No. 8 Oregon State in the first half but eventually lost 73-48 Sunday afternoon.
Senior forward Alli Gloyd notched her third double-digit scoring performance of the year, as she poured in a team-high tying 10 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the floor.
Sophomore forward LaBrittney Jones took advantage of her first start since Jan. 16, as she also recorded 10 points, while pulling down a team-high equaling four rebounds. She's now scored in double-figures in six of her last eight games
Senior guard Candice Warthen continued her climb up the program's all-time scoring list, as she scored nine points, giving her 1,066 for her career, passing Kim Conway (1,060) for 16th on the list.
Arizona (9-16, 2-12 Pac-12) won the points off of turnovers battle 10-4, while it forced Oregon State (23-2, 13-1 Pac-12) into 15 turnovers. UA committed just eight miscues.
The Wildcats picked up six steals to the Beavers' two, while they also held a 4-0 advantage in fast break points.
For the second consecutive outing, Arizona hung right with its opponent from the start, as the Wildcats never trailed by more than nine points until the 6:40 mark of the first half.
The Beavers pushed their advantage to as high as 37-24 with 3:32 remaining in the opening 20 minutes, but Arizona closed the half on a mini 6-2 surge, to make it just a 39-30 deficit at the half.
The Wildcats shot 14-of-30 from the field for 46.7 percent in the first half, while it held a 4-3 advantage in blocked shots, despite the Beavers' clear height advantage.
Malena Washington kept Arizona's positive momentum rolling, as she connected on a jumper from the left elbow on the opening possession of the second half to cut the deficit to just 39-32.
