Arizona to host St. John's in Super Regional

TUCSON, Ariz. -- After hosting an NCAA tournament regional for the first time since 1992, the Arizona baseball program will host its first-ever NCAA Super Regional this weekend at Hi Corbett Field.
UA (41-17) will host St. John’s (40-21) in a best-of-three Super Regional, with the series set to begin Friday at noon and continue at noon Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday, if necessary. All games will be televised live on ESPN2.
The Wildcats cruised through the Tucson Regional, routing Missouri 15-3 in the opener and winning two games against Louisville by scores of 16-4 and 16-3. The Red Storm rolled through the Chapel Hill Regional, defeating East Carolina 11-3 and upsetting No. 6 national seed North Carolina twice, by scores of 5-4 and 9-5, on its home field.
Arizona has won 11 of its last 13 games, including four straight at home. St. John's, meanwhile, has won seven consecutive games, including four in a row in the Big East tournament and all three last weekend in the Chapel Hill Regional.
The Wildcats will be making their third Super Regional appearance. In 2004, Arizona knocked off Long Beach State in three games in the Long Beach (Calif.) Super Regional to advance to the College World Series for the 15th time in school history. In 2008, Arizona won the opener at the Coral Gables (Fla.) Super Regional before dropping the next two games to host Miami to fall one game shy of the CWS.
