TUCSON, Ariz. -- Lisa Oyen has stepped down after three years as head coach of Arizona's soccer team.

Oyen had been an assistant at Arizona since 2004 before taking over as interim head coach midway through the 2009 season.

“My decision to resign was not an easy one, but I’ve decided to pursue other opportunities,” she said. “I want to offer a thank you to (athletics director) Greg Byrne and the current athletic administration for the opportunity I was given.  I’ve worked with some of the best people and coaches in the country.”

Oyen’s team was 6-11-3 this past season and 2-7-2 in Pac-12 play.

“I want to thank Lisa and her staff for their hard work and effort. She’s improved our program and we’re sorry to see her leave,” said Byrne. “We plan to open the position and conduct a national search. I’m confident we will find a terrific head coach for the Arizona soccer program.”
