The Angels continued tinkering with their bullpen, but this time they unloaded a left-handed reliever rather than added one, sending Nick Maronde to the Cleveland Indians for cash considerations. The deal was announced by general manager Jerry Dipoto.
Maronde, 24, was on the Angels' opening-day roster and was used strictly as a situational reliever. He was sent to Triple-A Salt Lake on April 11 and was called up 10 days later before being returned to Salt Lake on May 7.
In his final two relief appearances, he gave up six hits and eight earned runs in one inning.
