NEW YORK (AP) Part of America's Cup - considered to be sailing's most prestigious event - will return to New York City for the first time in nearly a century.
The multi-day sailing event is part of a series of preliminary events leading up to the next America's Cup. It will be held May 7-8. It's a prelude to next year's America's Cup in Bermuda.
Organizers say the regatta will be the first time the event has been in New York City since 1920.
The race will take place along the Hudson River near Battery Park in Manhattan. Officials say it is an ideal location because it brings fans closer to the racing action in New York and New Jersey.
