Adrian Peterson misses practice with hamstring injury

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Leslie Frazier opened his Wednesday press conference saying running back Matt Asiata and tight end Rhett Ellison wouldn't practice later in the day because of injuries before dropping the bombshell that quarterback Josh Freeman wouldn't practice because of a concussion.

Frazier never mentioned that MVP running back Adrian Peterson wouldn't practice, either.

Yet, Peterson was later listed on the team's injury report with the hamstring injury that has caused him problems for the past week and he didn't participate in practice Wednesday.

Peterson first showed up on the injury report last week with hamstring tightness and didn't practice on Friday. He returned to practice in a limited basis on Saturday and played in Monday night's loss at New York. Peterson had just 13 carries for 28 yards as Minnesota was unable to establish its running game and caused Freeman, making his first start, to throw 53 passes.

Frazier said the team was being cautious with Peterson. He's clearly still dealing with the injury this week.

Asiata (shoulder), Ellison (ankle), Freeman (concussion) and receiver Rodney Smith (hip) didn't practice Wednesday. Linebacker Chad Greenway showed up on the injury report for the first time with a wrist injury. He was limited Wednesday, along with cornerback A.J. Jefferson (ankle), left tackle Matt Kalil (low back) and kicker Blair Walsh (left hamstring).

Defensive tackle Kevin Williams (knee) and defensive end Jared Allen (ankle) were full participants.
