Editor’s note: As we count down to the start of the college football season, FOX Sports Carolinas ranks the game-day experience around the Atlantic Coast Conference. We unveil the top choice on Tuesday, Aug. 21. (item rankings are based on a scale of 1 through 10):

2 - Doak Campbell Stadium, Florida State (82,300)

Beauty (7):
Very nice, classic looking college football stadium. The brick gives it a classy, southern look. Quite a large structure, makes you think seating is greater.

Tailgating (7):
Excellent tailgating with a sea of people. May be a little subdued compared to a couple of other ACC venues, but is pretty darn good and is known for its coeds.

Buzz (6):
FSU fans won so much for so long they got used to it and expected it. Then when the team struggled the fans got a little apathetic. This season might be very different, and if it is, the best of Doak Campbell will come to life.

Fans (6):
Tallahassee’s location doesn’t help, but empty seats for conference games are simply inexcusable at a school that’s had this much success. Yet, they still have an 80,000-seat stadium, and it gets loud in close games.

History (9):
National champions and Heisman Trophy winners have called Doak home, as did 14 consecutive top-five teams. Chief Osceola’s burning spear toss is legendary.

Remark:
It’s big time and a lot of fun. From the spear toss to the tomahawk chop chant to the press box, this facility has everything a fan could want.
