Aaron Rodgers Q&A: 'I'll be able to move around well enough'

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Aaron Rodgers did not sound like himself. With his tone soft and his words sniffled, the illness Rodgers was dealing with during Sunday's game had stuck around. Still, with the Detroit Lions five days away from battling the Green Bay Packers for the division title, Rodgers talked about his prognosis for the game after suffering a right calf injury, how the offense has changed and much more.

Here are five question-and-answer highlights from the interview with Rodgers:

1A. How are you feeling?

RODGERS: "I'm feeling good -- except for the sickness and the calf thing. Other than that, I'm great, yeah."

1B. Will you be ready for Sunday's game?

RODGERS: "Yes, I think so."

2. Will the offense have to scale anything back with certain plays if the mobility isn't what it normally is?

RODGERS: "I would say, I mean, I'm sure we can adjust accordingly if I'm not ready to fully move around, but I'd like to think with the Christmas holiday and everything that  comes with it, that I'll be able to move around well enough."

3. Is it ideal to have something to play for in Week 17?

RODGERS: "Ideal would be 15-0, probably. But nah, it's been a great season. We've had a lot of adversity to go through. I think that's what really builds your team's character when you're in some situations when your character is revealed, and guys responded well. The game against Buffalo was a rough one. I said during the week it'd be interesting to see how we respond to this, and the defense had an incredible game; a lot of sacks, a limited amount of yards and created turnovers. Offensively we had some very productive drives and a lot of yards. Not as many points as we would have liked, but it was a good step in the right direction after Buffalo. Now we have to take another step this week."

4. Do you think the offense has changed since the Week 3 game against Detroit?

RODGERS: "I'd say we're rolling personnel a little bit more. John (Kuhn) has been playing so good for us that we have to find ways to get him on the field. It's been some three-receiver stuff with two backs and not just exclusively with a single back in the backfield. With Q (Andrew Quarless) and Richard (Rodgers), we've been doing some more two tight end stuff, as well. So we've been rolling personnel a little bit more than maybe we thought we were going to at the beginning of the season. Maybe being just a three-receiver and one running back team, because of the play of John Kuhn and then having two tight ends who have been playing really well."

5. If the run game isn't working against Detroit, do you just have to stick with it to some extent?

RODGERS: "Well, you do, but not many people have. They haven't had a team rush, I don't think, for 30 attempts all season on them. People have been trying to throw it on them, people are averaging close to 40 attempts passing the ball per game and in the mid-20s running it. It's tough to move the ball on this team because they're so stout upfront. You just know it's going to be a game where you have to be very efficient throwing the ball, and you have to look for those opportunities for extended plays in the run game and the pass game."
