Aaron Finch appointed Australia captain for Sri Lanka T20s
SYDNEY (AP) Aaron Finch has been reappointed as captain of Australia's Twenty20 cricket team for next month's three-match series against Sri Lanka.
Finch, who captained Australia in six T20 internationals between 2014 and 2016, returns to the job in the absence of regular captain Steve Smith, who will be in India with the test team.
On Monday, Finch led Australia's one-day team in the first match of the Chappell-Hadlee series against New Zealand when stand-in captain Matthew Wade was sidelined with a back injury.
The Australia team for the Sri Lanka series is likely to be light on experience because the India tour means that Smith, David Warner, Glenn Maxwell, Usman Khawaja, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Matthew Wade are unavailable for selection.
