On Thursday night, the Tampa Bay Rays provided the best play of the day before the game even began.
9-year-old Alayna Adams was asked to throw out the first pitch, and was told she got the honor by the U.S.O. because her father, Will Adams has been deployed in Afghanistan for nearly two years.
Prior to the pitch, a pre-recorded video of Lt. Col. Adams was played on the video board at Tropicana Field, where he promised Alayna he would see her very soon. She then threw the ball to a man behind home plate, dressed in catcher's gear.
