A little time does Cabrera, Padres well

Everth Cabrera was promoted from Class AAA Tucson on May 17 because Padres shortstops Jason Bartlett and Andy Parrino weren't hitting.
So what did Cabrera do?
He went hitless in his first 19 at-bats upon being inserted into the big-league lineup.
"I need a hit," Cabrera said when the streak was at 0-for-17.
Cabrera finally got his first hit of the season Wednesday night in St. Louis. Then he got another and another and ...
Cabrera got six straight hits to go from 0-for-19 to 6-for-25. The Mets did retire Cabrera in his final at-bat Thursday night.
However, Cabrera's rampage did nothing to help the Padres' shortstop statistics. Manager Bud Black moved Cabrera to second Wednesday to "remove some of the pressure." Cabrera was at second again Thursday for his four-hit game.
Cabrera was one of six Padres with two or more hits Thursday as San Diego had 18 hits in a rain-delayed, 11-5 win over the Mets at Citi Field in New York. The Padres' previous high for hits this season was 15. Thursday was the first time this year that San Diego scored more than eight runs in a game.
