2015 Gators football schedule released

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The last time Ole Miss visited Ben Hill Griffin Stadium the Rebels pulled off a 31-30 upset.
It was Florida's only loss during its 2008 national championship season and prompted a piece of Gators lore: Tim Tebow's "The Promise" speech, which is now memorialized by a plaque outside the Heavener Football Complex.
The Gators get another shot at home against Ole Miss next season. The Southeastern Conference announced schedules for all 14 SEC football teams Tuesday night and Florida hosts Ole Miss on Oct. 3 in what will be the schools' first meeting in seven years.
The Gators play four of their first five games at home, something they haven't done since Will Muschamp's first season in 2011. They open with New Mexico State on Sept. 5.
The Aggies and Gators have faced each other once before, the 1994 season opener at The Swamp. The No. 1-ranked Gators cruised to a 70-21 victory.
East Carolina comes to town the following week in what will be only the second matchup between the schools. The Gators defeated East Carolina, 24-17, on homecoming in 1983.
The Gators open their SEC schedule the following week at Kentucky and then come home to host Tennessee and Ole Miss. After the Gators play Ole Miss, they won't play at home for more than a month.
Florida travels to Missouri on Oct. 10 and plays at LSU on Oct. 17. Following a bye week, the annual clash against Georgia in Jacksonville is slated Oct. 31
The Gators then close out the final month of the regular season with three of four games at home, starting with Vanderbilt. After a trip to South Carolina, Florida finishes the regular season with nonconference games against Florida Atlantic and Florida State.
For the 24th consecutive year, the 2015 SEC season will conclude with the SEC Championship Game on Dec. 6 in Atlanta.
