NEW YORK (AP) Thibaut Vauchel-Camus won the Class 40 division aboard his monohull Solidaires to bring an end to the Transat bakerly, the world's oldest solo trans-Atlantic race.
Vauchel-Camus finished late Friday night.
The other winners were Francois Gabart in the Ultime division, Armel le Cleac'h in the IMOCA 60-foot monohulls and Gilles Lamire in the 50-foot trimarans. All are from France.
Gabart sailed his 100-foot trimaran MACIF from Plymouth, England, to Brooklyn in 8 days, 8 hours, 54 minutes - just 25 minutes off the race record set in 2004.
The race finished in New York for the first time since the inaugural edition in 1960 after finishing into Newport, Rhode Island, for the past 56 years.
Seven of the 25 skippers dropped out of the race, which was marked by big swells and strong headwinds.
