MARIBOR, Slovenia (AP) Organizers say the course for next week's women's Alpine World Cup event in Maribor has been damaged by vandals but the races can go ahead as planned.
In a statement Friday, organizers said snowmobiles and sleds have been used to partly destroy the snow surface on the lower part of the Pohorje course.
Chief organizer Gorazd Bedrac says ''vandals caused a lot of damage, which is a huge blow for all of us. ... The course will be groomed and made smooth and it will certainly be physically secured night and day.''
The annual Golden Fox event consist of a giant slalom on Saturday and a slalom the following day - the first World Cup races after the world championships in Beaver Creek, Colorado, end this weekend.
