Utah law enforcement officers have released the 911 tape in which Olympic silver medalist Jeret ''Speedy'' Peterson tells a dispatcher he's about to kill himself.

The U.S. freestyle skier made the call Monday shortly before shooting himself in a canyon near Salt Lake City. He was arrested in Idaho for drunken driving three days before his death.

The recording released by the Summit County Sheriff's Department on Thursday is 26 seconds long.

Initially calm, Peterson identifies his location.

When the dispatcher asks him the nature of his emergency, Peterson tearfully tells her he's going to kill himself and wants the police to come and get his body.

Peterson won the silver medal in freestyle aerials at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
