USA Luge National Team named for 2016-2017 season

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (AP) Three-time Olympian Erin Hamlin and Chris Mazdzer head USA Luge's national team that will race World Cup next season.
Hamlin, the 2014 Olympic bronze medalist at Sochi, had one gold medal and three silvers in women's singles in the first half of last year's World Cup season and finished fourth in the overall standings. Mazdzer, a two-time Olympian, had a pair of World Cup victories on his way to a career-best third place in the final rankings.
Also selected were Summer Britcher, Tucker West, Emily Sweeney, and the doubles teams of Matt Mortensen and Jayson Terdiman, and Justin Krewson and Andrew Sherk. A fourth woman will qualify in the fall.
The U.S. won a team-record 18 World Cup medals last winter and returns every member from that squad.
