PARK CITY, Utah (AP) Justin Olsen of the U.S. was disqualified from the opening four-man bobsled race of the World Cup season after his sled failed a postrace inspection.

Olsen and Evan Weinstock, Steve Langton and Chris Fogt had their 12th-place finish from Friday night thrown out when it was determined a sled part was not properly welded.

The problem had been flagged in Lake Placid, New York, last week, and the U.S. team thought the repair had been done satisfactorily.

USA Bobsled and Skeleton CEO Darrin Steele calls it a ''technical issue'' that ''didn't create a performance advantage.''
