The leader of Tokyo's bid for the 2020 Olympics has sent a letter to IOC members seeking to reassure them that the city is "completely unaffected" by the leak of radiation-contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear plant.
Tsunekazu Takeda says in the letter that life is "completely normal and safe" in Tokyo and the city's air and water are not affected by the leak from the crippled plant.
A copy of the letter, dated Aug. 27, was obtained Monday by The Associated Press.
The letter comes just days ahead of Saturday's IOC vote on the 2020 host city in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
