Stimpson wins 2nd straight world series triathlon

CAPE TOWN, South Africa (AP) Jodie Stimpson won her second straight world series triathlon when she outlasted British teammate Helen Jenkins in a running duel on Saturday.
Stimpson was in a group of 12 which broke away during the bike leg and began the run with more than two minutes on the chasers.
Stimpson hit the front and looked set to cruise to victory as she did in the series opener in Auckland this month, but Jenkins caught her midway through the 10-kilometer run and the lead changed constantly. Only in the last 500 meters did Stimpson finally break from Jenkins, and won her third career world series title by seven seconds.
Gwen Jorgensen of the United States, part of the chasing group two minutes down, stormed to third, 22 seconds behind.
The men's race is on Sunday.
