SALZBURG, Austria (AP) The Russian Biathlon Union is accepting a fine of 100,000 euros ($106,000) over three doping cases, including two that came ahead of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
Spokesman Ivan Tugarin tells The Associated Press that the RBU ''has no reason and no intention to appeal'' the fine imposed by the International Biathlon Union.
Irina Starykh and Ekaterina Iourieva were banned before the Sochi Olympics and Alexander Loginov was suspended in November last year, all after testing positive for the blood-booster EPO. The three biathletes are serving multiple-year bans, though Iourieva has retired.
The IBU says it imposed the highest possible financial sanction ''due to serious damage to the interests and the reputation'' of the international federation.
Six years ago, the RBU was fined 50,000 euros for doping infringements.
