ALTENBERG, Germany (AP) Roman Repilov of Russia defeated defending champion Felix Loch in the final luge World Cup of the season to claim his first overall title on Saturday.

The 20-year-old Repilov was quickest in both runs for a combined time of 1 minute, 47.237 seconds. He beat Germany's Loch - who had been chasing his sixth consecutive title - by 0.461 seconds.

''This trophy really means a lot to me because I have never finished top of the season before. I think that I will be able to celebrate a few more victories like this in the future,'' said Repilov, only the second Russian to win the overall title after Albert Demchenko in 2005.

Germany's Johannes Ludwig was third, 0.800 back, ahead of Tucker West of the United States, Dominik Fischnaller of Italy, and Chris Rene Eissler of Germany.

Robin Johannes Geueke and David Gamm of Germany were third, 0.399 back, ahead of Latvian brothers Andris and Juris Sics, Austria's Thomas Steu and Lorenz Koller, and American lugers Jacob Hyrns and Anthony Espinoza.

It was Eggert and Benecken's ninth win from 12 races.
