The British Olympic Association will open a museum on the site of the 2012 Games to mark London becoming the first city to host the event three times.
Organizers said Monday the venue at Olympic Park in east London will open in 2014.
International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge says the museum will ensure stories of ''human triumph and sacrifice will come to life and ... become part of the lasting legacy'' of the games.
BOA chairman Colin Moynihan points out there is no physical legacy from the London Olympics in 1904 and 1948. He says the museum will allow for the ''spirit, excitement and unforgettable memories'' of the London Games to ''inspire future generations.''
