Norwegian IOC member recovering from heart surgery

Senior International Olympic Committee member Gerhard Heiberg is recovering in a Norwegian hospital after suffering a mild heart attack during a ski trip.
Heiberg's secretary Unni Johnsen says the 71-year-old had surgery at Oslo's Ullevaal Hospital on Thursday. She says he's ''recovering well'' and is expected to be released this weekend.
Heiberg was president of the organizing committee of the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. He serves on the IOC's executive board and is chairman of the marketing commission. Heiberg leads the IOC's negotiations with global sponsors.
Heiberg had planned to watch the women's ski jump event at the Nordic Ski World Championships in Oslo on Friday. The IOC is considering whether to include the event at the 2014 Olympics.
