NASSAU, Bahamas (AP) Mark Mendelblatt of the United States won two races and finished second in the other Thursday to take the lead from two-time Olympic gold medalist Robert Scheidt of Brazil on the second day of the second Star Sailors League Finals.
Mendelblatt and crewman Brian Fatih opened a 10-point lead over Scheidt and Bruno Prada, who had finishes of seventh, fourth and fourth. The Brazilians had a one-point lead over the Americans after the first three races Wednesday.
Scheidt is the defending champion.
Three more races are scheduled Friday, with a progressive elimination leading to the finals on Saturday.
