LENZERHEIDE, Switzerland (AP) Lara Gut moved closer to the overall World Cup title Sunday, skiing safely to ninth place in the slalom run of a combined event.

Gut was 1.46 seconds behind her Switzerland teammate Wendy Holdener, the first-run leader, with her favored super-G discipline to follow.

Fog on upper sections of the course forced organizers to switch the schedule and race the slalom first.

Gut seems certain to win her first overall title, and can extend her 295-point lead over Viktoria Rebensburg of Germany.

Rebensburg skipped Sunday's event and does not plan to start in slalom at nearby St. Moritz next weekend.

Rebensburg can score a maximum of 300 points from the three races she has left.

Holdener led Michaela Kirchgasser of Austria by 0.49. Third-place Marie-Michele Gagnon of Canada was 0.67 back.
