Houston will host the 2012 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials, the first time one city will host the event for both men and women in the same year.

The trials, which will determine the U.S. runners for the marathon in the 2012 Summer Games in London, will be held on Jan. 14, 2012. The race will be the day before the 40th anniversary of the running of the Houston Marathon.

It will be the second time Houston has hosted the women's trials after first hosting the race in 1992. The city has never hosted the men's race.

The women are expected to start the 26.2 mile course before the men on the morning of Jan. 14.
