KITZBUEHEL, Austria (AP) Organizers have delayed the start of the classic men's World Cup downhill on the Streif by at least an hour because of high wind in the upper part of the course.
FIS race director Markus Waldner says the weather conditions at the Mausefalle jump just below the start are too dangerous to start the race at its scheduled time of 1045 GMT. Lowering the start could become an option if conditions fail to improve.
Also, course workers have been busy for hours removing a 10-centimeter layer of fresh snow off the course.
Last year, the race was delayed for two hours because of fog in the upper section, and then ran from a significantly lower start point, making it the shortest downhill in World Cup history.
