CALGARY, Alberta (AP) Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken extended their World Cup luge men's doubles winning streak to four Friday, leading a 1-2 German finish at Canada Olympic Park.
Eggert and Benecken had a two-run time of 1 minute, 27.804 seconds.
''It's a result of our hard work in the summer,'' Eggert said. ''There are still things we can improve in equipment and driving.''
Olympic champions Tobias Wendl and Tobias Art were second in 1:27.845, and Canada's Tristan Walker and Justin Snith followed in 1:28.014.
Matt Mortensen of Huntington Station, New York, and Jayson Terdiman of Berwick, Pennsylvania, were 12th.
''The race didn't go as planned,'' Mortensen said. ''Although we didn't quite hit the wall at the start we bumped the right side and that sent us pretty hard to the left. We made the best of the situation. The second run was better but the start wasn't very good.''
In the women's singles at night, German star Natalie Geisenberger raced to her fourth victory in four events this season, finishing in 1:33.860.
Canada's Alex Gough was second in 1:33.918, and compatriot Arianne Jones followed in 1:34.274.
''In general, it's difficult to beat Alex Gough, but it's very difficult to beat Alex Gough in Calgary,'' Geisenberger said.
Erin Hamlin of Remsen, New York, was the top American, finishing eighth in 1:34.451.
''I have to be happy with the result. I had some major mistakes up there,'' Hamlin said. ''My first run was decent. I had a little bobble at the start again, which didn't affect me too much time-wise. From the Kriesel (360-degree turn) down I was a little off all week and it continued. I had to muscle my way to the finish, which is a lot of time (lost) here. The corrections I had to make definitely hurt me.''
Emily Sweeney of Suffield, Connecticut, 10th; Summer Britcher of Glen Rock, Pennsylvania, 19th; and Julia Clukey of Augusta, Maine, 23rd.
